Wheel A Way

VR simulation training elderly on safe electric wheelchair usage.

Challenge

The growing aging population in Singapore has led to an increase in users of the electric wheelchair. However, it is very challenging to train the elderly on the appropriate controls of the wheelchair especially when navigating turns, traffic lights and automated doors. This often leads to dangerous accidents and grievous injuries.

Innovation

Wheel A Way is a VR simulation that trains the elderly in the safe operation of electric wheelchairs. Featuring realistic scenarios from typical Singaporean environments, this simulation boosts user confidence and reduces accident rates by providing risk-free training. Wheel A Way has successfully reached over 100 elderly individuals, significantly reducing accidents by enhancing their ability to safely navigate electric wheelchairs.
